The Volunteer Coordinator works as an assistant in the Volunteer Coordinating Office, located in Lha’s main office building on Temple Road.
The duties of the Volunteer Coordinator include maintaining email correspondence with prospective and incoming volunteers, conducting the weekly volunteer meeting, ensuring that all current volunteers have the support they need to work effectively, coordinating weekly social events for volunteers currently in McLeod Ganj, and maintaining the volunteer database for Lha’s records.
The main role of the Volunteer Coordinator is to communicate with and help to place incoming volunteers. The goal is to ensure a smooth transition between incoming and outgoing volunteers and to make sure all volunteer positions at Lha are consistently and adequately staffed. Additionally, the Volunteer Coordinator acts as a resource for other volunteers and can help them to find temporary substitutes or alternate placements should the need arise.
Other duties may include occasional office assistant work, creating educational materials for prospective and current volunteers, creating fundraising materials, and organizing weekly events to increase volunteers awareness of Tibetan culture and current issues.
