French student exchange group
On October 8, Lha was pleased to organize yet another student group for its Cultural Exchange program. The group consist of 17 student accompanied by 4 teachers from Lycee de Vincendo High School in Reunion Island, France. During their stay here in Dharamsala, they were engaged in various activities and participated widely in programs arranged by Lha.
The first part of the program was to introduce the French Group to the Tibetan Community settled here in Dharamsala. Initially the group visited various exile offices and communities, followed by fun filled days of sightseeing around McLeod Ganj, to understand and learn more about the community. They visited the Tibet Museum, Tibet Library, Central Tibet Administration complex, Tibet Medical and Astrological Institute and also Norbulingka, the Tibetan cultural center set in beautiful gardens. On October 15 the group visited nearby Tibetan schools and played a friendly football and basketball match with students of Tibetan Children Village School, Lower Dharamsala. The French group was later invited by the school for tea and took part in an interactive session with the Tibetan students.
And in the evening, Lha organized a dinner celebration for the student group where they met Lha’s Advanced French students for interaction at Ahimsa house. The dinner celebration was much enjoyed and created a happy moment for all. We thank Lycee de Vincendo High School for their generous donations and sponsorship of stationery items for Dharomkot government school, two months rations for Gamru Village School through Lha and the Dharamsala Rotary Club, and sports equipment for TCV School Lower Dharamsala. We hope the group had a wonderful stay here and our best wishes to all.
