Lha’s free eye checkup and free glasses project
As a part of Lha’s Health and Hygiene Services & Education program, Lha organized a free of charge eye checkup and glasses project with the target budget to help 120 people within the community. The project started from September and was supposed to be valid until the end of October. However, since we exceeded the budget and number of people before our estimated time frame, unfortunately the project had to be ended much earlier.
The eye check up was available to anyone who wanted their eyes tested and all eye examinations were conducted in the Lha office. Based on the outcome of each eye test, individuals that needed further examinations were then taken to Delek Hospital. A scheduled appointment had been made with Delek Hospital’s eye doctor Dr. Lungtok la for every Wednesday and Thursday from 3 o’clock in the afternoon. On these two days Lha would bring down the group of people for their examinations.
Delek Hospital very generously offered some prescribed glasses free of charge so that we could effort glasses from the optometrist at a cheaper rate and could buy more glasses to meet the required number of people that needed glasses. So based on Dr. Lungtok’s prescription for each individual, we then went to the optometrist and each person could choose their own design of frame.

We had a total number of 145 people who went for the Doctors examination at Delek Hospital and out of which 112 people needed to get prescribed eye glasses. All of the people that received the examinations and those that also required glasses were very happy with the outcome.
Overall it was a very successful and beneficial project for the people within the community.
