In response to growing environmental concerns, Lha Charitable Trust implemented the Waste Intervention Project at Upper Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV) School in Dharamshala between December 2025 and March 2026. The initiative aimed to promote responsible waste management and encourage sustainable habits among students and residents. A key step in the project was the distribution of 106 waste bins across 23 homes and 4 hostels on December 3, 2025. Each space was equipped with a three-bin system—blue for dry waste, green for wet waste, and red for sanitary waste—making waste segregation simple and practical in daily life.
To strengthen awareness, door-to-door workshops were conducted from March 23 to 28, 2026. These interactive sessions engaged around 784 students and 27 parents, focusing on environmental conservation, waste segregation, and the principles of reducing, reusing, and recycling. Educational posters were also provided to reinforce learning.
The project led to a noticeable increase in awareness and a positive shift in attitudes toward waste management. Students and residents began adopting eco-friendly practices and taking greater responsibility for their environment. Building on this success, Lha Charitable Trust plans to continue follow-up activities to ensure long-term impact and sustained behavioural change.
