A group of six students from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisianas took part in Lha’s cultural exchange and mutual learning program in June 2023. During their stay at Dharamshala, the group toured various Tibetan organisations including Norbulingka Institute, Tibet Museum and library of Tibetan works and archives and Mentsekhang; Tibetan Medical and Astro Institute to get exposure about Tibetan culture and traditions. Tulane University students also spend their time with Tibetan mutual learning partners who are students of Lha Charitable Trust’s language classes. Through mutual learning partners, the students exchange personal stories and learn about each other’s cultural backgrounds. Lha’s language students have also used this platform as a way to practise their spoken English.

The student group was led by their professor Michael Smith who is a long-term friend and supporter of Lha and has visited many times with student groups before covid-19 pandemic.
