Personality Development Workshop
We organised two half-day workshops on Personality Development for 30 students on our Livelihood Skill Training program on 30-31st May, 2023. The workshop was conducted by Ms Yangkyi and Mr Karma from the Tibetan Centre for Conflict Resolution (TCCR) based in Dharamshala.
Lha’s Livelihood Skill Training programs aim to prepare students primarily for jobs in the hospitality industry which require constantly dealing with people-oriented situations. Therefore, we have requested the trainers to focus the workshop on personality development and related skills that will help prepare the students for real-life situations in their job placements.
The two-day workshop covered various topics including: Understanding Conflict as part of daily life and benefits of understanding the overall complexities of conflicts; Active Listening as one of the most important yet the most neglected qualities of leaders and professionals; Non-Violent Communication with an emphasis on “pure observation without judgement and interpretation.” The workshop also discussed stereotypes in daily lives which have a tendency in creating conflict and disharmony in the community. Trainers emphasised the importance of breaking stereotypes which can pave ways to use intelligence.
The workshop was highly interactive and participatory which was the highlight of the students’ feedback apart from the relevance of the whole session to their daily lives.
“I liked the most about this session was as I am an introverted person, it helped me learn how to deal with it and create bonds with others,” said a student from the Barista course.
“The topic was present with the activities and team work which is very effective to learn,” said another student.
Lha’s series of livelihood trainings have been funded by the Tibet Fund since 2019.
