Water Project at Delek Hospital 1On 29th April 2015, Lha installed its 19th reverse osmosis water purification system as a part of Clean Water Project at Delek Hospital, Dharamshala.

Water Project at Delek Hospital 2Tibetan Welfare Delek Hospital is situated about 2km from Mcleod Ganj. With His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama’s blessings, Tibetan Welfare Delek Hospital was officially inaugurated on October 4th, 1971. The hospital was formally handed over to the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) on January 1, 1979, and renamed the Tibetan Delek Hospital. Although distinctly autonomous in its administration and funding, the hospital falls under the auspices of the Department of Health, chief supervisor of all health care delivery among Tibetans in exile.

Water Project at Delek Hospital 4The water purification system is an RO+UV+ UF and TTS, and is considered one of the best systems available in the area. It will provide 22 liters of hot and cold safe drinking water per hour to the patients and the staff of Delek Hospital.

We hope that this water purification system will help to alleviate major waterborne illnesses like typhoid and cholera that residents commonly suffer from in this region, especially during the monsoon season. We believe that this will contribute to maintaining a high level of general health among the students and the staff.

Water Project at Delek Hospital 3We will be installing more such systems in Tibetan settlement, a nunnery, a monastery and a school in order to provide more safe drinking water. So far around 7535 people have benefited from the Lha Clean Water Project and we are hoping to install more through the help of our generous donors around the globe.
