Lha recently conducted a free workshop from 24th-28th November, 2008 on JOOMLA. Joomla is a free system that can be used to manage websites. It helps in designing and maintaining websites and makes the task much easier as compared to some of the complicated soft wares that are used nowadays. It’s userfriendly interface also helps in developing and maintaining websites in multiple languages (eg. English, Tibetan & Chinese). Some of the NGOs in Dharamshala are already using Joomla because of its easy-to-use and user friendly nature.

This was the 2nd workshop on Joomla that Lha conducted. The earlier one was conducted in May, 2008. This time the total number of participants was 12 and it comprised of members from various NGOs , Govt. officials and individuals who were interested to know more about this software. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Marco from Italy and Mr. Andrew from New Zealand. They discussed and educated the participants about Web Content Management and its advantages. The main focus of the workshop was on Joomla System and its advantages. The participants were taught how to install and use Joomla, the various templates available in Joomla and most importantly, how to design multiple language websites in Joomla by using Joomfish.

The feedback at the end of the workshop was positive as the participants were happy and their purpose to attend this workshop was achieved. Lha is thankful to Mr. Marco and Mr. Andre for all their support to make this workshop possible. Lha is interested to conduct more workshops like these for the welfare of the community and it would be possible if more professionals like Mr. Andrew and Mr. Marco volunteer to partner Lha in such welfare programmes.
