Clear Vision Program 2026: Bringing Better Vision to the Monastic Community

In 2026, Lha Charitable Trust launched the Clear Vision Program to provide free eye check-ups and prescription eyeglasses to monks and nuns living in monasteries, nunneries, and hermitages in Dharamshala. The program aims to improve eye health, enhance vision, and ensure access to essential eye care services, enabling beneficiaries to continue their studies, prayers, and daily activities with greater comfort and independence.

Program Highlights

  • Conducted 2 Eye Care Awareness Workshops at Geden Choeling Nunnery and Dolma Ling Nunnery.
  • Reached 256 monks and nuns through eye health education and professional vision screening.
  • Provided 129 beneficiaries with prescription eyeglasses based on professional eye examinations.
  • Promoted awareness of eye health, regular vision check-ups, and proper eye care practices.

Impact

The program has enabled monks and nuns to:

  • Read scriptures and prayer books more comfortably.
  • Continue their studies with improved vision.
  • Participate in daily spiritual practices with greater ease.
  • Carry out everyday activities with increased confidence and independence.

Looking Ahead

The high demand for vision support demonstrates the need for continued eye care services within the monastic community. Lha remains committed to expanding the Clear Vision Program so that more monks and nuns can benefit from better vision and an improved quality of life.
