Mr Ngawang Rabgyal, Director
Lha Charitable Trust

Distt. Kangra, H.P. India

Dear Ngawang Rabgyal la,

It has been a privilege and honor to be associated with Lha Charitable Trust for almost the entire time of its 20 years of extraordinary services. During this time, I have been an active participant and deeply engaged in the many programs of Lha and seen it grow to one of the most important non–governmental organizations serving the Tibetan refugee population. I recall the deep commitment made in the early days of the organization to serve the local and broad Tibetan diaspora and have seen many programs develop over these years. Every one of these programs carries significant meaning to those it serves and the impact is so vast to be almost unimaginable.

With each passing year, Lha becomes more and more central to the well being and continued social, physical and financial health of those it serves. As well, Lha carries out these programs with compassion and its organizational structure is very well conceived and implemented. It is always a pleasure to engaged with Lha and introduce others to it. As the dean (now dean emeritus) of a large institution (Tulane University School of Social Work) in the United States, I am very aware of the challenges of managing a complex organization and one that has as its own goal to serve a population with many needs. Lha has managed to do this successfully and with dignity for all these many years.
It has been a true pleasure to be directly affiliated with Lha and its director and stuff consistently over so many productive years. Similarly, it has been a valued experience to introduce my American graduate social work students to Lha and to have stayed for many years in its Ahimsa House.

I offer my heartfelt congratulations to Lha on this most auspicious 20th year anniversary and wish all of its many dedicated staff great success in the years ahead as Lha continues to be a central and critically important part of the Tibetan community in India and abroad.

Sincerely,

Ron Marks., Ph.D., M.P.H., M.S.W.
Dean Emeritus
