Lha Charitable Trust launched the Waste Intervention Project under its environmental Awareness Program to promote sustainable waste management practices among students. After months of planning and coordination, the project was implemented at Upper TCV School to encourage responsible environmental habits within the school community.
Key Activities:
- Distributed 106 waste bins on December 3, 2025, across 23 homes and 4 hostels.
- Introduced a three-bin system:
- Blue for dry waste
- Green for wet waste
- Red for sanitary waste
- Conducted door-to-door awareness workshops from March 23–28, 2026.
- Sessions included interactive learning on waste segregation, environmental conservation, and the waste hierarchy.
- Participants 784 students and 27 parents.
- Provided educational posters (“The Journey of Our Garbage”) to reinforce learning to each home.
Outcomes:
- Increased awareness and understanding of waste management.
- Improved daily waste segregation practices.
- Encouraged eco-friendly habits and shared responsibility among students and residents.
Conclusion & Next Steps:
The project successfully established a foundation for sustainable practices within the school. Lha plans to continue follow-up engagement to ensure long-term impact.
